ART FOR SOCIAL ACTION
Our Second Annual Photo Exhibit and Talk by ArtCorps Artist Isabel Carrio
on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm

Dear Friend,

Please join us for the opening reception of the Second Annual ArtCorps Photo Exhibit hosted by Cell Signaling Technology in Danvers, MA.

We are very pleased that ArtCorps Artist Isabel Carrio, the exhibit’s main photographer, will join us from Guatemala to share stories about her experience using Art for Social Action to build stronger communities. This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from one of our artists in the field!

For our second annual photo exhibit, we selected the theme of “International Women’s Day” in honor of the 100th anniversary of the global women’s rights effort. The selection of images depicts women and girls of all ages engaged in improving their lives and communities, within the Central American reality of gender inequity.

For a sneak preview of the exhibit, read about Alida, the girl whose dream of being an artist in residence came true for one day, and Doña Feliza, who was photographed by Isabel for the “Women of Puruhla” series installed in her city hall this past International Women’s Day.
